The University of Akron, founded in 1870, is located in the heart of the "Rubber City." The school, best know for its College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, offers 300 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Today, the gracious mansion and elaborate gardens are open to the public. The site also hosts a variety of special events throughout the year.
